Beach'n'Figs

A day not as boring as expected

5-Minute Read

Me and Margarida had a really nice morning together.

Made coffee for her, and then we started to plot out the day.

Margarida wanted to work out… And to her, it’s leg day.

I popped a vitamin and went for it but only managed to do half of her routine before nausea struck and I decided to wimp out and have oatmeal.

I know, I know… I’ll think I’ll need to ease into it when it comes to working out, especially for legs.

The oatmeal was really good though, especially with the rhubarb and strawberry jam (the one by St.Dalfour) Margarida bought for us.

Oatmeal even covered lunch we thought, as it was past 11.

Time to make use of our time

I did my Portuguese lessons and #100DaysOfCode, hours went by as Margarida kept improving her character in Pillars of Eternity II, it looked like a lot of fun and served as a nice backdrop while I kept going over HTML basics for the umpteenth time since my mid-teens.

The course material today taught me few things I did not previously know, but it kept it fresh with good opinions on best practices, and some of the HTML5 stuff I’m still not implementing actively in my coding.

Repetition is always pivotal in my line of work, and in taking on this challenge I’m learning to embrace the pursuit of a possibly neverending path. There is always more coding to learn, but the important part is to learn the knowledge more than to simply digest it, and I think that TeamTreehouse still keeps it somewhat fresh for me, and that small bite in the pocket is a means of reminding me to take it seriously.

Booked a meeting with mom and dad for Thursday..possible fishing trip with Phil for the weekend… That or a cheese-hunt I guess… We’ll see… Heat is still a very present issue in casa dotMavriQ, so we gave in and geared up to hit the beach once more… Anything to get away from the heat.

I suggested that we walk to the train station and go past the bridge to take a hard right and follow the scenic route near the water as we approach a beach or place to swim. We ended up surprised by just how nice that ended up being.

Admittedly the place I had intended to swim at was crowded as all hell… But we gave in and put or towels on a patch of concrete… Shortly thereafter we went for it.

The water was so warm and nice we both skipped in completely unbothered.

It’s a bit shallow but it was refreshing and I felt like a kid again as I braved the almost non-existent waves that hit us.

We fooled around in the water for a bit and got up to dry up.

Margui got some sunbathing out of it while I mostly tried to avoid the whiff of dogpoop that would enter my nostrils every odd minute.

Had it not been for that I bet I would’ve rated the visit a strong 8/10.

But with the way that it was crowded and the whiff of dog doom we went after we’ve dried up, occasionally gazing at the reflections the sun makes on the water before we got dressed to find a place to eat.

We talked about maybe going to a pizzeria, but none of us were really feeling it, and we also realized we had pork chops that were due in the fridge, and so we went back home.

But on our way home, we decided to visit the Livs Bra that neither of us has visited before and I tell you what:

It’s a neat little store! They have cheap and good greens and some off-the-beaten-path candy for anyone inclined to try something new.

I took a peanut butter KitKat and a Pampino Basil Seed drink with Lychee Flavor.

Margarida rejoiced over finding “good figs” as opposed to the 4-or-so not-all-that fresh figs we bought at ICA the other day for 60SEK.

They had like 4 types of figs… So if that’s your deal I highly suggest that you check it out!

The cashier was cool… I’ll visit it more often for sure, especially seeing as the closest supermarket is Lil Coop and this is closer.

Coolest find may well be the cactus figs tho! Gonna try them tomorrow I think.

We made food. I had fries with mine. Cauliflower rice is awesome… Frozen not all that but it works. Marguis pork chops rule though, as always.

We tried the only Lily Hannas we haven’t gone for before, Chocolate Love Energy, the chocolate one, we decided it’s our least favorite, even though it’s still quite yummy!

The rest of the day was battling the heat… I did some more Portuguese, some more code… Ended up not playing Dying Light afterward though… I’m not sure if it’s a game for me… Popping some Sabbath and shooting psychos in Borderlands 2 felt more like my thing… So after my studies, it was the pastime of choice until midnight…

And now it’s late… I should stop writing this I guess… It’s already an unnecessarily long post… But I felt like writing I guess.
